BattleCards

Is there an easy way for you to create a hard error on the BattleCards once you have been logged out? I just ran into this issue after going through a long stretch of the COPFLR ones and realized a good set of my y/n answers did not save.

  • Sorry, I can see that would be very annoying. I didn't realize it let you keep going with the BattleCards after you were timed out. I've fixed it and tested it myself so it should now take you to the login screen and not let you proceed.

  • Perfect, thank you!

  • I am little confused with so many battle card links. Does the "BattleCards - Quiz Scores" (https://www.battleacts6us.ca/BattlePlan_CombatTraining.php) contain all the quizzes including exam questions?

There are also links to the exam questions in the wiki reading. Are these covered in the link above? Can I just skip them during my first pass of the materials and tackle them in the battle cards? I cannot help checking them one by one, which slows my reading.

  • Here are a few facts that I hope clarify what's going on:

    • The most important thing to realize is you can design your study program in whatever way is most comfortable and effective for your own learning style. The BattleActs system provides you with several different tools and you can use any or all of the features as you see fit. Many people use only a subset of the available features.

    • The links on the main page of the website, https://battleacts6us.ca/BattlePlan.php are just different ways to query the database of BattleCards. For example, you can see just the calculation problems using the link to "BattleCards - Calculation Problems", https://battleacts6us.ca/BB_byCalc.php

    • If you feel that doing the quizzes on your first pass is slowing you down too much, then you can just come back to them later. Everyone has different preferences for how to learn the material. I know there is a lot to absorb but once you've used the system for a little while, you'll feel more comfortable with navigating the different features. I've also found that some people don't like doing the quizzes at all and prefer to study from their own notes, using the ranking table and wiki articles as a guide.

    • Even if you do want to go through the quizzes as you read the wiki articles, you don't have to go through them all in detail. You could just quickly scan the questions to see what's there. Sometimes it helps to just do quiz 1 in a wiki article to get a foundation. Then you can do the other quizzes later. Note that on your first pass, you will probably not know the answers to a lot of the quiz questions. Don't let that worry you. You will have to review many times to be able to recall all the facts reliably. That's the same for everyone.

    • The link you included in your post to the quiz scores page shows the same quizzes from individual wiki articles and most of the old exam questions. (You can see all the old exam questions using the link under "Custom Battles" labelled "BattleCards - Prior Exams", https://battleacts6us.ca/BB_byExam.php.

    • The links to old exam questions in the BattleTables near the top of each wiki articles are also (mostly) included in the quizzes. (An exception is if the same question has appeared on multiple exams. In this case, the quizzes generally only have the most recent instance of that question.) The BattleTables are just a quick way to scan and access the topics that have been asked on past exams that are related to that article/reading.

    • Another useful way to query the database is under "Custom Battles" and is called "BattleCards - Top Questions", https://battleacts6us.ca/BB_byTopQ.php. This shows exam questions that have appeared multiple times on past exams. These are questions you definitely have to know because they are also likely to appear on future exams.

    • There are a small number of BattleCards that are not part of any quiz. To get to those, you have to go to "BattleCard Filters", https://battleacts6us.ca/BB_byReading.php, and under "Optional Setting C", select "Lower Probability". But that's something you won't need to do until much later, after you've already learned all the foundational material. (And many people just skip those "lower probablity" questions because they are unlikely to appear on the exam anyway.)

    • The "BattleCard Filters" page is also useful for filtering by color. Color flags can be set by clicking in the first column of any page that shows the actual BattleCards. There are 5 different colors. This is useful for flagging questions you may be having trouble with and want to return to easily.

That's a lot of information but I hope it helps in guiding you to study effectively. If you would like to discuss further, please just let me know.

  • Thank you for clearing that up!
